This luncheon will focus on informing professors about the procedures to follow when asking their students to do projects that involve collecting data from human participants. Although many class-based projects, such as oral histories or journalistic investigations, do not require review, studies that may yield generalizable findings do. This session will explore the steps to take to help students complete their required training in human research (offered by the online Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) and the review of their work by the University’s Institutional Review Board. If time permits, we will also review the use of Qualtrics for collecting data.
