Dr. Kristin Bezio and her research student will talk about the process of figuring out what needs to happen together, keeping in touch, etc. as well as what the student gets out of helping a professor with their projects. Dr. Bezio thinks it’s a really good idea to involve students in our research—insofar as we CAN—so that they can not only apply those skills to new topics, but so that they feel like there’s a purpose to them. She is going to make a practice of changing that in future semesters, and using her research as examples in her classes (which are both research process classes—Critical Thinking and the Honors prep course) so that students can see how academic research actually works—and that there are reasons for the processes we teach.
